About Lexie

A zoologist's eye. A trusted neighbor's care.

Lexie Whitten is a zoologist who's spent the last eleven years caring for animals from fur to scales: dogs and cats, of course, but also horses, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians, arachnids, rodents, and the occasional crab. Her background includes formal dog training and an internship at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, with working knowledge of the anatomy of most species.

She is certified in pet first aid and CPR for dogs and cats and administers medication across five routes: oral, topical, injected, ocular, and otic. Senior animals and special-needs cases are everyday work: diabetics, blind and deaf pets, anxiety, reactivity, mobility issues, amputees, and chronic medical conditions are all within scope. Elevate Animal Care is the full expression of that practice: a service for clients who want a higher tier of care than a typical sitter can offer.

FAQ

The honest answers.

Practical questions from new clients. If yours isn't here, ask directly. Lexie reads and replies to every inquiry.

How is this different from Rover?+
With Rover you take whichever sitter is available. With Elevate, you always book Lexie. Same person, every stay, so your pet builds a relationship with one caretaker, and so do you.
What does $166 a night include?+
Everything: an overnight stay in your home, all walks, feeding, medication, daily photo updates, and light home care (mail, packages, plants, trash). Additional pets are billed at $80/night each. No hidden fees.
Do you do meet & greets?+
Always, and they're complimentary. Before your first booking, Lexie visits your home for about 30 minutes to meet your pets, walk through your routines and home, and answer your questions in person.
What animals do you care for?+
All breeds of dogs and cats, including senior pets, large or strong dogs, and pets with anxiety or medical needs. Reptiles, birds, fish, and small mammals are welcome. Exotics are accommodated on a case-by-case basis — please share details when you inquire.
How far in advance should I book?+
Two to four weeks for standard bookings. Holiday stays (Thanksgiving through New Year's) often book out 2–3 months in advance. Last-minute bookings are accepted when possible. Call directly.
What if there's an emergency?+
Lexie's zoology background means she recognizes when something isn't right. She'll contact you immediately, and with your prior authorization, transport your pet to your preferred vet or a 24-hour emergency clinic. Vet contacts are gathered at your meet & greet.
